Venue
The wedding ceremony and reception will take place in the backyard of Meredith’s parents' house, located at 3 Alcott Lane, Biddeford Pool, Maine. The ceremony will be held outdoors and the reception will be under a tent. We will have limited parking at the house, so please let us know if you plan on parking at the house, and if possible, carpool with other guests. If you are staying locally, we have reserved a trolley that can transport you to and from the event!
Getting to the venue
If arriving by car: Biddeford Pool, Maine is approximately 2 hours from Boston and 6 hours from New York City by car. Parking will be available at the house but is limited, so please let us know if you plan on driving to the event day-of.
Airports: The Portland International Jetport (PWM) is about 30 minutes north of the venue. Boston Logan International Airport is approximately 2 hours south of the venue.
Train or Bus: The Amtrak Downeaster offers direct train service from South Station in Boston to Biddeford Center. Alternatively, the C&J Bus system departs directly from Logan Airport in Boston and arrives in Portsmouth, NH, which is one hour from Biddeford.
RideApps: Ubers and Lyfts are not the most reliable in this part of the country, especially when trying to get from Biddeford center out to Biddeford Pool. While this is certainly an option, we recommend not relying on cheap, readily available rides through ride app services to get to the event.
What to do in Biddeford/Biddeford Pool
Biddeford Pool holds a very special place in our hearts! Back in 2019, Jack came up to visit Mere at her parent’s house for the first time "as a friend" and left as officially "more than just friends"! Their first official date was at Middle Beach, which is where Jack proposed to Mere 5 years later. Over the years visiting Amy and Jim in Biddeford, we have developed quite the list of our “Bidde-Faves” for you to check out while you’re travelling:
Beaches: Middle Beach is the closest beach to the venue (about a 2 minute drive) and is a great spot for beach walks and swimming. Fortunes’ Rock beach is just up the road and ideal for surfing. Bath House Beach is also great, and has bathroom facilities and a large parking lot. If you are staying closer to the University of New England, Hills Beach is a must-see with a large jetty that you can walk out on and catch the sunset.
Nature Walks: A great walk close to Amy & Jim’s House is Mass Audubon’s East Point Wildlife Sanctuary. Street parking is available on L.B.Orcutt Boulevard, and the trail offers amazing views of the rocky shore, the Wood Island Lighthouse, and on a clear day - Mount Washington!
Cafes and Restaurants: Elements for Coffee (and beer!), Rover Bagels, Palace Diner for breakfast or lunch, and Fish & Whistle for the best fish & chips ever!
Bars & Breweries: Banded Brewery, Sacred Profane for beer. The Lincoln Hotel Bar for cocktails. Mulligans for a late-night dive bar scene and billiards.
